Jumpstart your workday! Take a 15-minute wellness session to tackle your work week.

Join acclaimed yoga and wellness instructor Cara Gilman for a sprint session for breathwork, yoga, meditation, or a combination of all three. Cara will lead 15-minute sessions for CanalSide visitors from on Tuesday, December 10 from 11:30am-1:30pm. She will be back on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. 

All are welcome, no equipment or yoga mat is needed, and the classes are completely free.

Each session is centered upon a theme that will be carried throughout the meditation and yoga flow. Participants are welcome to join the whole session or attend a portion of it. Each meditation segment will work breathwork, and a guided visualization. Each yoga flow segment will consist of standing yoga postures. No yoga clothes or equipment is needed for these classes. 

Session 1

11:30 to 11:45: Grounding Meditation

11:45 to 12pm: Yoga Flow - Steady + Strong 
This session opens with breathwork, and then closes with a body scan visualization that will ground your body and mind. The yoga flow opens with standing postures that fosters strength and heat, and transitions into standing balances that explores steadiness. 

Session 2:

12:15 to 12:30pm: Releasing Meditation
12:30 to 12:45pm: Yoga Flow - Twist it Out

This session consists of an energizing breathwork exercise and visualization that will give you the energy you need as you head into the rest of your day. The yoga flow consists of a fun twisting sequence, that like the meditation segment, will energize you.

Session 3:

1 to 1:15pm: Intention Setting Meditation 

1:15 to 1:30pm: Yoga Flow - Happy Hips

This session explores breath awareness and visualization to calm the body and mind. The yoga flow begins with chest and hamstring openers, and then explores a feel-good hip focused flow to leave the body and mind in a calm state.

Give Warmth - Give Hope

CambridgeSide is partnering with Bay Cove Human Services and Cambridge and Somerville Programs for Addiction Recovery (CASPAR) on Saturday, December 21 from 11am to 3pm for their Give Warmth-Give Hope Campaign. 

The Give Hope Campaign raises funds to provide winter essentials to people experiencing homelessness in our community. Please consider donating new or gently used coats for the littlest members of the community: children in Bay Cove's Early Intervention program (ages 0-4T).

Bay Cove Human Services’ annual Give Warmth-Give Hope  campaign raises funds during the holiday season to provide warm winter essentials to people experiencing homelessness in the communities we serve.For the last 10 years, Bay Cove and CASPAR have distributed critically needed items directly to individuals, children, families, students, and veterans. From 2019 to 2023, the number of people who entered an emergency shelter for the first time throughout Greater Boston increased by more than 23 percent. Bay Cove Human Services and its programs are here to help this holiday season and throughout the year.

The wizarding world is now open at CambridgeSide, as the US leg of the “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” tour makes its Greater Boston debut.

The behind-the-scenes immersive exhibition gives muggles access to characters, props, stories, settings, beasts, and more set in the “Harry Potter” and “Fantastic Beasts” worlds. Before the experience begins, visitors will be sorted into their Harry Potter house, or group, and will pick a wand and a Patronus, a magical guardian summoned for protection from Dementors, mythical guardians of Azkaban, the wizard prison. Then, they’ll be guided through several interactive galleries where they’ll have the opportunity to collect points that go toward winning the “House Cup.”

Guests will travel through the Hogwarts Castle gallery, where the Whomping Willow, Dementors, and Marauder’s Map reside. The Hogwarts classroom gallery allows visitors to brew potions, predict the future, pot a mandrake, and defeat a boggart, a shape-shifting creature that takes the form of a person’s worst fear. Hagrid’s Hut and the Forbidden Forest gallery features an interactive Patronus charm experience and iconic creatures to be uncovered.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition

The big, bright red “Giving Machines” have returned to CambridgeSide this holiday season; these unique vending machines allow users to donate items like winter clothing, baby supplies, medicine, and even chickens and goats to those in need.

Sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Giving Machines provide an instant act of service, helping those in the local community, and around the world. Visitors can make donations by purchasing items ranging in price from $5 to $150, and 100% of donated funds go directly to the participating nonprofits including Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, Catholic Charities Boston, Transformational Prison Project, and International Institute of New England.
